it's only december and i'm already sick of winter. this morning, we woke up to even more snow with everything was covered in a couple of inches of powdery snow with a slick surface underneath. gross. this is our third snowfall so far this month and the temperatures are absolutely frigid. it's not even going to "warm up" to anywhere near freezing for a while, we're stuck with 20s during the days and teens at night. ugg!
a few photos of . . . leko cuddled up in our cozy basket chair, my mom's birthday cake, playing games with leko on his fleece blanket, back up in my spotlight loft perch for yet another christmas concert, a much-needed car wash (even though the car got dirty a few days later), and a surprise from leko when he put his favorite ball in his food dish instead of in his water dish for a change!
it's christmas card season! ryan and i absolutely love sending holiday cards each year. we especially love photo cards since they are such a nice way to share little snapshots of our past year with our family and friends.
we're thrilled to be teaming up with shutterfly this year for our holiday cards! we have been huge shutterfly fans for years, in fact our whole family loves shutterfly. they truly have it all, and the quality of their products can't be beat. (did you know that ryan and i even made our wedding guest book and wedding photo album on shutterfly?) over the years, we've made several photo albums, countless photo calendars, photo ornaments, address labels, and of course many photo greeting cards too.
shutterfly truly is a one-stop shop for your holiday card needs because they make whole the process so easy!
there are hundreds of beautiful designs from which to choose. once you pick your favorite card design, you can personalize it by choosing your color, trim, paper type, and format. my favorite part of the process is adding in my photos and arranging them on the card. after you select the quantity of cards that you need, you can also customize your envelopes and address labels to match!
for this year's card, we chose the 5x7 size of the gleaming gift design in gold with the rounded edge trim on pearl shimmer cardstock. we love how this card allowed us to display several of our favorite photos from the past year.
we love how shutterfly makes personalizing christmas cards a super simple few-step process. after just a few clicks, you have made gorgeous looking cards, and before you know it they arrive on your doorstep ready to send out to everyone on your list. we're grateful for shutterfly's easy system, especially with our super hectic schedules!
one of the things that drew us to this design was the "christmas wishes" message on the front. it had a special little meaning for us because we knew we wanted to feature some photos from our trip to disney this past spring. when we were at the magic kingdom, we saw the wishes show at cinderella's castle, and it turns out our timing was perfect because the wishes show was discontinued just a few weeks later.
we addressed, stamped, and stuffed our envelopes, and our cards are in transit to their destinations as we speak!
we are so happy with the way our cards turned out this year and can't wait for our family and friends to see them when our cards arrive in their mailboxes!
my dance studio's christmas show kicked things off last weekend and now we're into christmas show season. we worked a show last week and have another to work tomorrow which means it's the season for me to resume my perch back up in the spot light loft for some long christmas concerts!
on sunday, my dance studio presented its annual christmas dance showcase. i was happy to be a part of it again this year and perform in five numbers. our holiday show is much smaller and more intimate than our annual spring main-stage recital. we danced at a local fire company hall which was the perfect size setting, and we had a great turnout of audience members.
in addition to performing, i also designed the posters and the programs for the show and handled ticket sales too.
i'm grateful that ryan captured the show on video. here is the video of the show . . .
below are some pictures of the numbers that i was in . . . you can see all of the pictures from the show here.
our senior jazz class danced to the song "christmas vacation" which is from ryan's family's all-time favorite movie national lampoon's christmas vacation. (i got to wear one of my mom's christmas sweaters for this number too!) . . .
one of the baby tap classes that i demonstrate for danced to the song "the polar express" from the movie the polar express. they got really into being a "choo choo train" and were so cute dressed like little conductors. (the red leotard i wore was actually my mom's old leotard too!) . . .
the youngest baby class that i demonstrate for danced to the song "santa claus is coming to town." they are only 2.5 years old and it was their first ever dance recital. needless to say, the crowd loved them. the kids had never seen my costume before the show, so i thought it was funny when one of the little girls looked at me right before the number started and leaned over to her friend to say, "look! it's mrs. claus!" . . .
i was happy to be able to choreograph a duet for myself and one of last year's graduates to the song "hallelujah." we had a lot of fun doing it together . . .
my senior ballet class danced to the song "you'll be in my heart" from the broadway musical tarzan as a special tribute to one of our dance students who passed away a few weeks ago . . .
