quick quesadillas

we needed a quick lunch the other day between all of the running that we do, so we whipped up some quick veggie quesadillas.  i don't know whey i never think to make quesadillas, they are so easy and so yummy!  we topped them with some salsa and plain greek yogurt (instead of sour cream).  they were great (and so much better than a restaurant quesadilla)!

movie time for leko

a few nights ago we were watching the disney movie "up" in bed.  leko joined us as he usually does, but when a bunch of puppies came on the screen, he jumped up from his cuddle, walked down to the foot of the bed near the tv, and sat there for a long time watching them.  we couldn't get over how cute he was!  i just had to reach over to grab my phone to snap some pictures of him.  he was watching those animated dogs so intently!

in the corner

leko absolutely hates when i'm on zoom meetings for work.  he screams and carries on so much that my co-workers cannot understand what on earth is happening at my house!  it's mortifying.

on monday, he was particularly vocal during a work meeting.  when the meeting was over, he was as quiet as could be in the corner facing the wall.  what on earth, kitten?!

i am truly appalled at the number of people who are complaining about wearing masks, the number of people who are wearing masks incorrectly, and the number of people who are refusing to wear masks.

just do your part and wear the stupid mask when you are out in public so we can all move on with our lives, please.

father's day 2020

we celebrated father's day on sunday at our house with our families.  everyone came up for father's day brunch on the back porch.  we had egg casserole, hash brown casserole, fruit salad, cinnamon buns, bagels, and non-alcoholic peach mimosas.

we spent the day sitting on the porch and visiting.  later in the evening we grilled hot dogs (vegetarian hot dogs for me) topped with vegetarian chili, with baked beans, and watermelon.  for dessert we had a giant chocolate chip cookie.  it was all so good!

it was so nice to be able to spend the day together without having to run anywhere!

yesterday after work we got together with ryan's parents to celebrate ryan's dad's birthday.  we had pizza for dinner and ice cream cake for dessert!  it was nice to get together to celebrate!

currently blooming in our yard

a sunday afternoon bike ride on a bicycle built for two

we have been on several bike rides so far this season, but we haven't taken our tandem bike out for a spin yet.  so on sunday afternoon, we dusted off our tandem bike and pumped up the tires.  we took the tandem out for a spin on our favorite trail (and as always it got a lot of attention from everyone passing by)!  it was such a lovely afternoon for a ride on a bicycle built for two!

i was changing the bedsheets the other day and found a lump in my pillowcase with a cute little tail sticking out.  i wouldn't be able to make the bed properly without my cute little helper!

national german chocolate cake day

today is national german chocolate cake day, and that is one of my family's favorite desserts!  here's our recipe that we have made time and time again, for lots and lots birthdays. 

i'm thinking our next recipe adventure should be german chocolate cake ice cream or german chocolate cake baked doughnuts!  yum!

summer hiking

we've lived in this area for so long but we never knew there were public hiking trails behind keystone college.  we recently learned about them, so we heading out on saturday for an adventure to check them out.  the weather was gorgeous and it was the perfect day to spend hours outside exploring the trails and enjoying nature.  it felt so good to breathe the fresh air and stretch our legs!

summer on the back screen porch

the weather has been very warm the past few days.  it was a glorious weekend to be outside!  we're not the only ones who enjoy spending time on our back screen porch in the summer, leko loves it too!  over the weekend, we were eating out on the porch and i looked over to find leko lounging and airing himself out.  it was too cute.  it's hot enough for us not wearing fur, i can't even imagine how hot it is for him wearing all that fur!

here in pennsylvania, our county finally moved from the "red phase" of quarantine to the "yellow phase" on friday.  although some things are starting to open back up at reduced capacity, it will be a long time until our live entertainment industry is able to open back up.  who knows when our next show will be in the theatre.  in the meantime, we have plenty of things to do and many other jobs to keep us more than busy.

leko's plan is to keep enjoying the back porch!

stage work during quarantine

although we don't have any shows going on in the theatres where we work, there is a little bit of stage work going on during this time of quarantine.  we've deep cleaned the lights, fixed a bunch of things that were broken, and most recently worked on replacing parts on the counterweight system.  i've enjoyed getting to work with ryan on stage even though we aren't doing our shows like we originally planned.
