contortionist

leko was enjoying some time out on our screen porch on sunday since the weather was so nice.  i looked out to find him playing under one of the chairs.  he was attacking the chair leg and table leg and got himself in such a crazy upside down position, he's like a little contortionist!

all aboard!

we loved visiting the electric city trolley museum on sunday.  while we were there, we took the opportunity to ride on a vintage trolley car.  we went on a 10-mile round-trip excursion for 1 hour aboard the trolley.  it was a lot of fun and such a neat experience.

here are some photos from our trolley ride . . .

"clang, clang, clang went the trolley"

anyone who knows me knows that i'm obsessed with meet me in st. louis (both the movie and the musical) because i played the lead role of ester during my senior year in my high school's production of meet me in st. louis.  playing the lead in that show will forever hold a spot on the the top 10 greatest moments of my life list.  of course, i have a soft spot in my heart for the trolley song from the show because of that experience.  (side note: usually i favor broadway cast recordings over movie soundtrack recordings, but i'm partial to judy garland, so in this case i think the movie version is better.)

the area where ryan and i live is known for trolleys.  in fact the city of scranton is nicknamed "the electric city" because they claim the first electric streetcar ran here in 1886.  electric cable trolleys played a significant role in the history of our area and we have an entire electric city trolley museum dedicated to preserving the history and the trolley cars from that era.  even though we've lived in this area for so many years, we've never visited the trolley museum.

over the weekend the trolley museum was offering free admission, so my parents and i went to go check it out.  (unfortunately ryan couldn't join us because he had to work, but i'll be sure to take him back sometime.)  the reason admission was free this weekend was because of the grand unveiling of the humongous train set gifted to our local tv station by john oliver from the tv show "last week tonight."  it was neat to be able to see the train set in person after seeing it on tv, and we really enjoyed the museum.  some photos from our trip to the museum . . .

saturday at the bloomsburg fair

for years we have been wanting to check out the bloomsburg fair and we finally had a chance to go on saturday.  we headed out to the fair in the morning and ended up spending 5 hours walking around.  there was so much to see!  we checked out the vendors, looked at the exhibits, visited the animals, and had some good food to eat (including penn state creamery cinnamon apple ice cream!).  it was such a nice day date.  the weather was unreal for september too with temperatures in the high 80s and bright sunny skies.  we actually got a little touch of sunburn walking around.  we certainly were grateful for the air conditioning in the car on the way home!

we had a good time and were glad that we finally got to check out the fair.  i didn't lug my camera around, but i did manage to snap several photos on my phone.

happy autumn!

even though the weather feels more like summer than autumn at the moment, today is officially the first day of fall!  i love this season and all of the colors, smells, and tastes that come with it!

we're keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather this weekend because we are hoping to do an outside fall activity.  happy fall!

have a wonderful weekend!
