it's getting chilly outside!

when it's getting chilly outside and dad's jeans come out of the dryer nice and warm, you claim them as your blanket for the day . . . naturally.

always something crazy

i do a whole lot when shows come to town, but i most certainly do not transport the talent/musicians.  well, never say never i guess because after a crazy mix up with the agent that's exactly what ryan and i ended up having to do this weekend for our beatles tribute show.

thank goodness our company had 12-passenger vans because we needed them to drive everyone back-and-forth to the airport/hotel/venue.  we just couldn't get over the fact that we had to do this, so to make a joke out of it we printed out a sign like you see in the movies when people pick people up at airports.  it was a crazy weekend, and i'm glad we got them back-and-forth safely.

(i guess sticking your tongue out while driving helps you concentrate?)

"american english - the complete beatles tribute"

on saturday, we had a beatles tribute show at our theatre and boy have i been looking forward to this show for a long time.  this is yet another show that was postponed because of the pandemic.  it was also a show that ran me crazy preparing for it because there were so many moving parts.

for years i have been a huge fan of the beatles (remember when ryan and i saw "love" in las vegas?!).  i loved that these performers did all different eras of the beatles.  even though it was a hectic night and we had a ton of issues going on behind the scenes, the audience loved it and i loved hearing some of my all time favorite songs!

you can see more of my photos from the show on the theatre's facebook page here.

i'm so incredibly thrilled that my theatre won the "best live entertainment" category in our local newspaper's readers' choice contest!  we're so grateful for everyone who voted!  yay!

so many costumes!

every moment of time in between work, classes, and dance has been dedicated to working on the costumes for the show that i am costume designing for at the university.  it's the final push to get everything ready.  slowly but surely, i'm getting there.  the punch list is getting a little bit shorter.  fingers crossed that we make it on time for costume parade on monday!

truckin' stuff around

a good portion of time on sunday was dedicated to getting the materials needed to build the set for the show that we are working on at the university.  there was no way that all of those supplies were going to fit in our petite ford ranger, so ryan was able to use one of the university vehicles to haul everything.  they let him take the ford 250 super duty and whoa, nelly, was that thing big!  when i stood in front of it the hood was up to my eyeballs, it was so tall!  of course he drove it like a pro and had a blast doing so.  you know, boys and their toys!  ;-)

se acabo santana tribute & the glass prism

on saturday we worked a show with two separate bands at the thaeter: a santana tribute called "se acabo" and the glass prism.  like many of our other shows, this show was postponed due to the pandemic so i feel like i've been workin on this show forever.  honestly, i'm glad we all survived this one, it was a doozie!  you can check out the rest of the photos that i took of the show on the theatre's facebook page here.

oh, monday . . .

it's monday and we're exhausted from working on several different shows this past weekend.  this week is going to be a doozie because we're pulled in so many different directions with different venues.  i saw this pop up on facebook and had a good laugh!  fingers crossed for today and this week!

september roses

we have had this tiny rose bush for a long time.  we moved it to the front yard and it got upset and turned into pathetic sticks with no leaves and no flowers.  we just recently moved it to the back yard and were shocked to see leaves and roses!  so glad it came back to life and gave us some flowers in september!

have a great weekend!

is it fall?

not too sure about this weather.  it was hot and humid . . . then it got cooler and started to feel like fall . . . then it got hot and humid again.  regardless of whether or not the weather knows if it's fall, the holderness family is making me laugh again.

10 years old!

this month our baby boy turns 10 years old!  last night, ryan and i were reminiscing about when we first brought leko home and how tiny he was back then.

we absolutely can't believe that he's a decade old, how did that happen?!  we're celebrating our baby all month long with lots of extra hugs, kisses, and tuna of course!

carpenters tribute concert

on saturday we had a carpenters tribute concert at our theatre.  this show, along with the rest of our fall series, was postponed because of the pandemic, so i've been working on this show for 2 years now!

i'm glad we finally got to have the show, and it went great.  here are just a few of the many photos i took during the show.  you can see more of my photos on the theatre's facebook page here.

gearing up for another show this weekend!

we're working on a carpenters tribute show that will be at our theatre this weekend, and we're looking forward to it.  we had some work done on the piano that was donated to us last fall and we're hoping to be able to use it this weekend for the show.  when we moved it onto the stage and got it in place, ryan sat right down and much to my surprise started playing chords.  i was like, "what?!  who are you?!"  never fails to amaze me.  not sure where he whipped that out of!

are you christmas shopping yet?

everyone is talking about how delayed online orders will be for christmas this year.  are you doing christmas shopping yet?  i can't even mentally think about it, but at least the holderness family is keeping us entertained once again!

la festa italiana 2021

i've mentioned numerous times that my favorite end of summer tradition is visiting our local italian festival over labor day weekend.  it's especially important to us since it's where we went on our very first date back in 2004.

we were so sad that the festival was canceled last year because of the pandemic, so it made it even better to have it back this year after two whole years of waiting!

we headed down to the italian festival on friday night after work to grab some dinner and watch some entertainment.  we went back down again on sunday night for dinner and fireworks.  we finished off the weekend by heading down on monday for one last time for lunch and entertainment.

let the countdown begin for next year's festival!

we enjoyed the nice weather over the weekend by getting together with our families for a little hike and picnic.  it was so nice to be able to have the weekend off and relax!

hello, labor day

i'm happy to have the day off work today!   labor day always seems like the end of summer to me.  i'm sad to see summer go, but i always do enjoy the fall.  i won't miss the insane humidity we had this summer!  slightly cooler temps are welcome!

happy monday!
