2018: our year in review

it's that time for another annual year-in-review post!  i love compiling these massive posts each year because they are such a great way to reflect back on the past year.  it's amazing what happens in twelve months.  here are our highlights from 2018 . . .

in january, we rang in the new year with our families.  we celebrated six years with leko and survived bitter record low temperatures.  i turned 33 and we celebrated my birthday with our families, and we had a little celebratory cheesecake date.

in february, leko kicked off the month by looking for his shadow on groundhog day and predicted an early spring.  we threw a little super bowl party at home just for us during a snow storm which was followed by a crazy ice storm.  i started a new job and ryan bought me beautiful flowers to celebrate.  we got lots of kitten cuddles in the cold weather, and i did a little d.i.y. sewing project to make myself a laptop sleeve for work.  we worked/saw the national tour of a chorus line when it came to town too.

in march, we celebrated my dad's retirement and got hit with two heavy snow storms.  ryan and i won a contest through our local tv station to visit the philadelphia flower show, and while we were in philly we ate at the famous reading terminal market.  we did a little d.i.y. project to make our own aromatherapy lavender rice pillows, and we worked/saw the national tour of kinky boots when it came to town.

in april, we celebrated easter with our families and mother nature played a cruel april fools joke on us by dumping even more snow.  we celebrated ryan's mom's birthday a bit belated and kicked off spring show season by working together.  we rented a u-haul and helped ryan's parents begin the process of moving.  spring show season kicked our butts when we worked a triple-show weekend, followed by another triple-show weekend, followed by another show week!

in may, i went on local tv to promote an educational workshop for the national tour of "beautiful" the carole king musical when it came to town.  we celebrated mother's day, and ryan's parents moved houses.  leko soaked up the nice weather on our screen porch, and we celebrated memorial day with a family picnic followed by a hike around a lake.  we cooled off by taking a trip to a water park too.

in june, i danced in my studio's annual dance recital. and leko made friends with the birds.  we celebrated father's day, ryan's dad's birthday, and ryan's parents' anniversary with a cookout, a hike, and a visit to a local car show.  we enjoyed a bike ride along our favorite trail where we had a close encounter with a friendly bald eagle.  we did a complete renovation to our kitchen too and leko loved it!

in august, we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary by touring the martin guitar factory and going out to dinner.  we worked a large outdoor jazz festival and the final show in the theatre for the summer.  we went to the wayne coumty fair and celebrated ryan's birthday with a trip to nyc to visit the museum of natural history.  we finished out the month with a rainy concert up at the pavilion, a bike ride, a trip to the harford fair, and the pentatonix show at the pavilion.

in september, we made our annual trip to the italian festival and enjoyed a labor day weekend bike ride.  we kicked off the fall season in the theatre with a dueling pianos show, went apple picking with my parents, and visited roba family farms.

in october, we took a day trip to nyc to see waitress the musical on broadway and visited ritter's cider mill with our families.  my blog turned 7 years old!  i went on a little "media tour" for work promoting the theatre and upcoming shows.  i also got a chance to take a dance class with my mom!  we enjoyed having the tour of almost queen at the theater, and we celebrated halloween by handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at our house!

in november, we celebrated by dad's birthday by taking a trip to nyc to see a broadway show and checking out the museum at fit, and by having a family party at home.  we worked a busy theater weekend, including a show called two on tap.  i attended the broadway theatre league gala, and we spent a lot of time in the theatre prepping for the christmas season.  we celebrated thanksgiving with our families and kicked off the holiday season with a holiday rock orchestra show.  we finished off the month by decorating the theater for christmas and throwing a huge gala at work.

in december, we celebrated the holiday season with an irish christmas show in the theatre, and celebrated my mom's birthday!  we worked a ton of christmas shows including a sinatra show, a holiday benefit concert, and several christmas music concerts.  we participated in a local tree festival to advertise the theatre.  ryan's family came to visit from north carolia and we got to see them and take a trip to the train museum with them.  we worked a several week run of a local nutcracker productioncelebrated christmas eve, christmas morning, and christmas day with our families.

hope everyone had a great 2018!

happy new year!
love, laurie
