wednesday night at the wayne county fair

it's become a summer tradition for us to take a trip to the wayne county fair the first week of august.  it's our favorite local county fair because rides are included with the price of admission.  it's fun to see the animals, vendors, entertainment, and of course ride the rides.

ryan got out of work early on wednesday night, and we were able to head up to the fair.  it's wasn't busy at all since the forecast was calling for rain, so we hardly had to wait in lines for anything.  we lucked out and the rain held off until we were driving home.  we even got to see the fireworks at the end of the night too.  it was a fun little date night!

a few snapshots from my phone from our impromptu trip to the fair . . .

pretzel kitten

this beautiful little man of ours has been loving our basket chair recently (see here and here).  most of the time he just curls up under the base of the basket chair, but the other day he got a spurt of energy and used it as a jungle gym to pretzel himself into different contortions.  it was going on for awhile, so i grabbed my cell phone to get some of it on video to show ryan.  what a silly guy!

have a great weekend!

snapshots of life lately . . .

oh my goodness, it has been over a year since i've done a "snapshots of life lately" post!  yikes!

here are a few photos of . . . ryan's view from backstage during the arts alive senior musical theatre revue show,  me tired and aggravated during the peach music festival (what else is new), finally getting a chance to run my car through a car wash, me having to hand wash both of our cars in the driveway because the $5 car wash did nothing except get the car wet, leko waiting for ryan to come home, and a trip to the movie theatre to see the new lion king movie with our parents.

dierks bentley

after working the train / goo goo dolls concert on thursday, we worked the dierks bentley concert on saturday.  we both worked the load in, show call, and the load out.  once again, we were both on the lighting crew, but we didn't get to work together since we were on separate projects.

ryan was on deck for show call and i was up in one the three spot light towers running one of the six spot lights.  each tower holds two spotlights and two crew members.  the crew member who shared my tower with me was one of my former students who now works as a stage hand with us.  she had never run spot light before, so it was nice to be able to show her the ropes.

since ryan was on deck, he sneaked a picture of me up in the tower, and i sneaked a few pictures of the show from the tower . . .

the lehigh valley zoo

we took the day off work on friday to take a trip to the lehigh valley zoo with our parents.  the only time i was ever at the lehigh valley zoo was for their christmas light display two years ago, so it was nice to see the zoo in daylight in the summer with all of the animals out.

my dad found discounted admission passes online which was great.  we spent a little over 2 hours walking around the zoo looking at the animals.  by far, the penguins were my favorite.  they are so darn cute and really remind me of leko!

here are some highlights from our trip to the zoo . . .

train and the goo goo dolls

we spent our anniversary on thursday working at our local outdoor concert pavilion for the train / goo goo dolls concert.  we both worked the load in, ryan worked show call, and we both worked the load out.  we couldn't believe how much equipment this show had and when we saw 9 trucks we assumed it was going to be a rough day, but it turned out to be super smooth and easy because their show was so well organized.  thank goodness!

we both worked on lighting, although we really didn't get to see each other because we were each working on separate lighting projects.  a few pictures from thursday . . .

back in the theatre . . .

this week has been a packed one!  after finishing up the peach music festival, we went right into another kids' musical theatre camp show.  two weeks ago, we had the first of these performances with the kids in kindergarten through 4th grade and this week we had the older kids in grades 5-12.  the show was a musical theatre revue of broadway show tunes.  i give the kids credit for putting on such a great show after only a few weeks of rehearsals.  i didn't get many photos, but i did manage to snap a few.

have a great weekend!

nine years!

today is our nine year wedding anniversary!  it's really hard to believe that we were married nine years ago today and that we have been together for fifteen years now!  unfortunately, we're not doing anything special today because we both have to work a large-scale concert, but at least we'll be at the same place today.  we'll take a raincheck on our celebrations and celebrate properly another day.

ryan, you are my very best friend.  i thank the universe every single day that i am able to share my life with you.  you are such an amazing person, and i feel beyond blessed that we're bonded together for eternity.  without a doubt, you are my rock.  together, we are my favorite team.  happy anniversary, my love!

bright eyed

this guy is the cutest!  he was happy to have us home last night at a reasonable hour after work.  it was a nice treat to be able to see him for more than just a few minutes!  i just can't resist his gorgeous eyes!

peach music festival '19

this past week and weekend ryan and i both worked the peach music festival.  we sure packed a lot of hours into the last several days.  the shifts were long, and the temperatures were hot, so we both now feel like jello.  it was a lot, especially having this festival back-to-back with camp bisco.

just like camp bisco, the peach fest is a huge music festival with numerous acts performing on multiple stages at once.  the whole thing takes place on the same ski resort / water park mountain, and concert attendees camp out on the ski slopes and have free range of the festival so they wonder around for days listening to the music on the different stages while riding the water park rides.

this is our third year working these crazy festivals, so we knew that we would be there for extremely long hours.  before the festival, i bought us new camp chairs with footrests as an early anniversary present to ourselves.  they were a god sent, and we got some good use out of those new chairs between set changes!  it was so nice to be able to prop our very swollen legs and feet up between bands in order to give them a rest.

a few pictures of the course of many days at the water park stage . . .
