walt disney world vacation 2019

we have been working non-stop for the past two years without any break or any vacation.  a few weeks ago, we saw that we had a week-long break on our calendars when there was actually nothing happening at any of the venues where we work!  we decided to plan a vacation and wanted to go somewhere were we could escape and have fun . . . so we booked a trip to walt disney world in florida!

this was my 7th trip and ryan's 2nd trip to disney world.  (we went for the first time together 2 years ago over the long easter holiday weekend.) 

we flew down to florida last monday and spent five full days in the parks before we returned home on sunday.  we had an absolute blast and packed in so much in those 5 days in the parks!  just like last time, we booked everything through disney and we stayed at disney's pop century resort again.  that was an easy decision, because it's a one-stop shop for everything and staying on disney property means complementary magic bands (which act as your room key, ride fast passes, dining reservations, credit card charging, memory maker photo passes, and so much more) along with complementary airport shuttles and bus/monorail/boat transportation to/from the parks.  it was nice to see that the rooms at pop century had been renovated since the last time we were there 2 years ago, which made it feel like we were staying in a whole new resort!

we took so, so many photos during our trip last week, so get ready for lots of disney photos over the next several posts!

memorial day 2019

we got together with our families yesterday to celebrate memorial day.  we went to ryan's parents house and enjoyed the nice weather on their back deck, then took a walk around a local park, and came back to the house for a picnic.

it was such a nice way to kick off summer!

leko always does whatever he pleases.  he runs our household, and he knows it.  i thought this buzzfeed article about cats doing what they want was pretty funny. i especially laughed at #11, that was my favorite.

phil torres took video of thousands of monarch butterflies in mexico and they sound like a waterfall.  you can listen here to his footage.  pretty cool!

another long weekend in the theatre

it was another long weekend in the theatre with a dance recital load in and rehearsal on thursday, a graduation load in followed by a dance recital performance on friday, an early morning graduation followed by another dance recital rehearsal on saturday, and a dance recital performance on sunday.

wow!  i'm sure happy that the theatre is quite for the next week i don't have to be there to work any shows for several days!!!  looking forward to a much-needed break!

"take me home, colleen"

this past weekend, we had a show in the theatre on saturday called "take me home, colleen."  it was different from our normal lineup since it was a folk-ballad irish-history play which recounted the time of the potato famine in ireland in the 1800s.

the show incorporated old photos from the 1800s along with present-day video of ireland, and it was a fund-raiser for the families of two police officers from our area who were killed in the line of duty.  it was interesting to meet the performers from ireland, and the person who wrote the production.

this weekend we're on to the next set of shows: 

two different dance recitals and a local college's graduation.

the weather on sunday for mother's day was so incredibly cold, dreary, and rainy.  since we couldn't do any outdoor activities, we decided to take a little train ride around part of the area where we live.  it was a lot of fun and felt like we were stepping back in time.  it was a great activity for a rainy day too!
