2017 holiday dance showcase

on sunday, my dance studio presented its annual christmas dance showcase.  i was happy to be a part of it again this year and perform in five numbers.  our holiday show is much smaller and more intimate than our annual spring main-stage recital.  we danced at a local fire company hall which was the perfect size setting, and we had a great turnout of audience members.

in addition to performing, i also designed the posters and the programs for the show and handled ticket sales too.

i'm grateful that ryan captured the show on video.  here is the video of the show . . .

below are some pictures of the numbers that i was in . . . you can see all of the pictures from the show here.

our senior jazz class danced to the song "christmas vacation" which is from ryan's family's all-time favorite movie national lampoon's christmas vacation.  (i got to wear one of my mom's christmas sweaters for this number too!) . . .

one of the baby tap classes that i demonstrate for danced to the song "the polar express" from the movie the polar express.  they got really into being a "choo choo train" and were so cute dressed like little conductors.  (the red leotard i wore was actually my mom's old leotard too!) . . .

the youngest baby class that i demonstrate for danced to the song "santa claus is coming to town."  they are only 2.5 years old and it was their first ever dance recital.  needless to say, the crowd loved them.  the kids had never seen my costume before the show, so i thought it was funny when one of the little girls looked at me right before the number started and leaned over to her friend to say, "look!  it's mrs. claus!" . . .

i was happy to be able to choreograph a duet for myself and one of last year's graduates to the song "hallelujah."  we had a lot of fun doing it together . . .

my senior ballet class danced to the song "you'll be in my heart" from the broadway musical tarzan as a special tribute to one of our dance students who passed away a few weeks ago . . .

love, laurie

Bravo! You and all the students did a fabulous job. The photographer and videographer did a excellent job too. I love how you were catch mid jump in the shot with the red costume, legs in perfect form. Glad we got to see the performance in person. You did a lot of work to pull it off.
