portland international rose test garden

we had read about portland's international rose test garden and it sounded amazing, so we had to check it out while we were in portland last week.  the garden is a testing ground for roses, and it is the oldest public garden of its kind in the united states.  there are more than 10,000 plantings in over 500 varieties.  words cannot even describe how incredible this garden is or how beautiful the roses are, it was truly breathtaking.  we just kept saying "wow!" and "oh my goodness!" as we strolled through the roses.  i have never seen so many roses in my life, and i certainly had no idea that roses could come in so many different color combinations!

the grounds over look portland's skyline and mt. hood, making for gorgeous views.  the best part is that admission is free!  if you are ever in portland, this is a must see for sure!  we took so very many pictures while we were at the rose garden.  we just couldn't help ourselves.  trying to narrow them down was near impossible.  all of the roses were so beautiful.  here are a few photos from our trip to the rose garden . . .

love, laurie

Such beautiful roses. Dad and I would have loved walking through that garden. One rose is more beautiful than the next. The sizes too are enormous. Your shirt matches the flowers. I bet they smelled delightful.
