lakeland has the best festivals. the month of august was the blooms and butterflies festival and we loved visiting multiple times throughout the month to pick sunflowers and see the butterflies. noah always has a good time at lakeland!

we found this hawaiian punch flower at home depot last year and loved it all summer long so we were excited to find another one this year. i've been loving these huge flowers on the back deck!

noah was really excited to help dad plant some flowers in the planters to decorate the front of the house. he was too cute in those tiny gardening gloves.
i'm still dreaming about those rows and rows of endless tulips, especially on these dreary and rainy days!
i can't travel anywhere tropical, but i can think of a tropical location every time i walk out on my back deck and see these gorgeous flowers!
the month of august is the blooms and butterlfies festival at lakeland orchard. we love going there, and were excited to check out their new butterfly house. we visited the butterflies and admired them sitting on the gorgeous flowers.
noah likes butterflies and was excited to go in the butterfly house. about half way through he decided he was scared of them. hopefully he will like them again soon.
the sunflowers at lakeland orchard are so incredibly pretty. we've been enjoying bringing some home with us when we go there to play. they are so cheery on our kitchen counter in a big mason jar!
we are completely and totally exhausted after a power-packed week and weekend at the theatre. there's no time to rest or recuperate though because we have another jam-packed week again this week!
holy moly, we need a rest (and clean laundry . . . and groceries)!

i don't spend much time in my office at work because we're always running around the building like nuts but i was in there the other day and looked over on the window ledge and was surprised to see that there were two flowers blooming on the gerbera daisy.
ryan gave me this plant years ago and i can't believe it's still kicking! i've never seen more than one flower at once on it.

i always love seeing this plant bloom outside our kitchen window each august. i also love how it turns from cream to pink as the fall goes on each year. i couldn't resist snapping a photo when the weather was nice the other day.

last august we went to brown hill farms to take some maternity photos in the sunflower fields. we went on a friday night after work and noah arrived on sunday night. we were so glad we took those photos just 48 hours before he was born.
since then, we've said that we wanted to go back this summer one year later to take some photos when noah turns one year old. we took a trip to the farm last sunday afternoon with our phone and tripod to capture a few photos. it's nice to have these snapshots of baby boy! i can't believe he's officially one!
