christmas in the city

on saturday we took a trip to nyc . . . right in the middle of a crazy snow storm.  yes, we're completely nuts, but we had a blast.

nyc is always magical, but it is especially wonderful during this time of the year.  the city really comes alive during the holidays.  everything is decorated, and vendors are all over the place selling little christmas treasures.

we didn't let the snow stop us.  even though it was snowing like a crazy blizzard, we still managed to cover a lot of ground and to see our favorite city all decked out for christmas . . .

^an archway of christmas lights inside chelsea market^
^christmas trees for sale in union square^
^the union square holiday market^
^(frozen) fresh cranberries for sale at the union square holiday market^
^a festive firehouse on east 18th street^
^herald square^
^macy's famous christmas window displays^
^decorations along 6th avenue outside of radio city music hall^
^the mother of all christmas trees in rockefeller center^
^grand central station^
^the gorgeous holiday stars in the shops at columbus circle^
and, i'll leave you with this amazing picture of a street vendor's cart
where we found chestnuts roasting under an open heat lamp
. . . in a pile of snow.

oh nyc, we sure do love you!

love, laurie

Love the cranberries and chestnuts. Does not look like they got a lot of snow.

Those holiday stars are beautiful and also the gold angels, etc. in front of the huge Rockefeller Center tree.
