hiking the waterfalls at rickett's glen state park

we had the day off on sunday and we were looking for a fun outing, so we drove out to rickett's glen state park to hike the waterfalls.  i had never been there before, and ryan hadn't been there since he was in boy scouts, so we were excited to check it out.

we loaded up the truck and packed a lunch.  it was such a pretty drive out to the state park.  when we arrived, we found a shaded area to set up our camp chairs and eat our picnic lunch.  (thanks, mom, for sending us home with leftovers from our 4th of july picnic.  it made the perfect lunch!)

after lunch, we hiked the waterfalls for over 3 hours.  we sure put a lot of miles on our hiking boots!  going into this, i guess i envisioned a leisurely trail alongside waterfalls.  i had no idea that we would literally be hiking up and down the sides of the falls.  the trail started off easy and then got nuts.  it was crazy and quite the workout!

the scenery was absolutely beautiful.  i kept saying that it was so pretty that it actually looked fake, like we were walking through a movie set or something.

here are some pictures from our adventure . . .

love, laurie

What beautiful waterfalls. It really looks nice there, but sounds like quite a hike.
