a fall trip to dorney park!

we both had the day off work on monday (thank you, columbus day!) so we decided to do something fun.  each of us have been to dorney park when we were younger, but we had never been there together, so we took a trip down to allentown to spend the day at the amusement park.

i've spent many a summer day running around amusement parks, but i had never been to one in the cooler fall weather and it was glorious.  the weather was absolutely gorgeous on monday and the park wasn't crowded at all!  we never had to wait in line and walked right on large rides like roller coasters which typically have lengthy wait times in the summer.  it was great!

we had so much fun riding all of the rides like kids.  it was a great escape for the day!  here are a few pictures from the day that i snapped on my phone . . .

^this guy loved the crazy metal roller coasters that went upside down.  he really surprised me at how much he loved the nutty rides!^
^i always love a carousel ride, especially right after lunch.  it's the perfect calm ride to digest lunch before the crazy rides!^
^yup, we went all the way to the top of that tower!  it was wild!^
^it was really neat to see the park decorated for halloween.  they really went all out with the decorations!^
^even though ryan loved the crazy upside-down roller coasters, he hated the simple ones that didn't go upside down because he didn't like the big drop.  this is the face he made when we got off the ride.  (insert eye roll here.)  come on, steel force is a classic and when i was a kid it held the record as the tallest roller coaster!^
^we rounded a bend and found a section of the park devoted to these monster trucks.  we had never seen anything like them.  it was a special attraction added just for a few weeks in the fall and we happened to be there while they were operating them.  we were surprised to learn a ride on one of these crazy things was included in our admission price.  we thought for sure it would have cost extra.  we waited in line for a little bit and then got moved up to the front of the line to fill in 2 empty spots which turned out to be right up in front next to the driver.  it was pretty cool!^
^it really felt like we were driving in a demolition derby or something like that!^
^i spy ryan rounding the bend behind that poll.  when i got off the classic cars ride the attendant said "i'd give you a 9 out of 10."  i said "you probably would have given me a 2 out of 10 if you saw me taking pictures of my husband while driving!"^
^we ended the day with the ferris wheel and it was the perfect last ride because we had an awesome view of the park from way up high!^

love, laurie
