graduation!

this weekend was absolutely wonderful!  both of our families came to watch me graduate on sunday with my doctoral degree.  hooray!  it was so special to have all of the important people in my life together to share this very special milestone with me.  earning this degree certainly wasn't easy, but all of the challenges along the way made the end result so incredibly rewarding.  as i walked across the stage and received my degree, i felt such a sense of pride for reaching this goal that i set for myself so very long ago, but i also felt such a sense of gratitude to my family who gave so much of themselves and were so supportive through this journey.  i feel so very blessed to have such a wonderfully supportive family, and i am so very grateful for the love that they show me each and every day.

when i was a little girl, i told my dad that i wanted to be "dr. laurie" one day.  he told me, "where there is a will, there is a way" and throughout my life i have always kept those words in the back of my mind.  my parents taught me that anything is possible if i set my mind to it.  so, i want to say thank you to my family for all of their encouragement and love.  i appreciate it more than words can say.

here are a few pictures from graduation . . . more to come soon!

{that's a four-leaf clover i'm holding that ryan found!}

love, dr. laurie

We both had tears in our eyes when we read your blog today...That's a beautiful compliment you wrote about us. We're glad that you feel and understand how much we truly love you and how very proud we are of you in so many, many ways. We knew you could accomplish this, yet it is still so hard to believe that you are among such a small percentage of people who actually have a Ph.D. degree. We know that your brother Jeff was with you throughout this entire journey, and that he is celebrating in Heaven above. Take a well-deserved break...you earned it!
