"the cherry orchard"

the fall main-stage show at the university where ryan and i both work was "the cherry orchard" this year.  the four-act play took place at the turn of the century in russia on a cherry orchard estate.

as usual, ryan wore many hats: production manager, technical director, lighting designer, and set builder.  i designed the costumes and noah helped with everything.

for my own sake, at the end of costuming designing every show i like to take a total count of all of the costumes in the production.  here's my tally for this production . . .

"the cherry orchard" by the numbers:

48 full outfits

individual pieces of clothing including:

7 undershirts

5 leotards

5 petticoats

23 shirts

11 vests

20 pairs of pants

13 skirts

7 dresses

1 nightgown

18 jackets

13 coats

80 accessories including:

9 belts

1 pair of suspenders

1 cummerbund

10 ties

25 hats

1 shawl

6 pairs of gloves

1 handkerchief

2 wrist watches

3 pocket watches

14 pairs of earrings

1 necklace

1 bracelets

5 broaches

along with:

bringing the grand tally of things in the show to 253 things that i have to track!

The three of you did an amazing job pulling the show togethers. Set, lighting, costumes, and all the other hats you guys wore turned out fabulous. Kudos, to the little director for keeping everyone on target.
