we had a great memorial day weekend! there's just something about a three-day weekend that is so refreshing. the weather was absolutely gorgeous all weekend, and we were able to spend the entire weekend outside. it was so nice!
we kicked off the long weekend on friday after work by going biking on a local trail. it was the first time we had a chance to take our bikes out this season. after biking, we stopped at one of our favorite spots for some ice cream.
on saturday, we spent the day with our families. ryan and i biked on a trail while our parents walked around a local park, then we all went back to ryan's parents' house for a memorial day cookout, followed by some blueberry rhubarb pie that ryan and i made for dessert.
on sunday, we got together with my parents for a picnic lunch at promised land state park. after lunch we walked around the lake, and later in the day we had dinner on the back deck at my parents' house.
on monday, we stayed at home and spent the entire day doing some much-needed gardening around our yard. we refreshed our existing flower beds and we created a new flower bed too. we were outside for hours (and it was exhausting) but our yard looks so good now.
we had a great weekend and it was such a nice way to kick off the summer season!
