apple picking!

over the weekend, we decided to kick off the fall season by going apple picking.  we had so much fun when we went apple picking last year and we just couldn't wait to go again this year.  the weather was absolutely perfect on saturday, so it made for the perfect day of apple picking.

we left the orchard with about 12 pounds of apples.  we already used a few of our apples to make apple pancake rings for breakfast.  we also added them to our salads this week for lunch.  (apples, feta cheese, and walnuts over mixed greens.)  the other night i made a deep dish apple pie too.  (i'll share the recipe for the pie tomorrow!)  even after all of that, we still have a ton of apples left over!  good thing i have a bunch of apple recipes up my sleeve!

love, laurie

Those apple look cripsy and juicy.
What kinds of apples did the orchard have? Were they all Honeycrisp?

The apples look delicious. It's interesting how they are grown.

Looks like fun! :) I'm hoping we get the chance to go apple picking this fall -- or at least to an orchard. I already have a few apple recipes that I'm hoping to try in the next few weeks.
