ice hockey game date night

it's no secret that we're not sports fans, but we can't pass up free tickets.  i got free tickets for our local hockey team's wednesday night game last week.  we happened to be free on wednesday night, so we made a little date night out of it.  we grabbed a bite to eat for dinner after work at a restaurant that we like near the arena before heading into the arena for the game.  our seats were good, the game was fun, and our home team even won.

ice hockey game date night

it's no secret that we're not sports fans at all.  however, we couldn't pass up free tickets from work to see our local ice hockey team play in the playoffs last week.  we made a date night out of it and grabbed a bite to eat for dinner at a mexican restaurant after work before heading to the arena for the game.  our seats were great, the game was fun, and our home team even won.  it was a fun little thursday date night.

a night out at an ice hockey game

we're really not sports fans, but we were excited to find out last week that we got 4 free tickets from work to see the first playoff game of our local ice hockey team.  last wednesday night after work, we met up with my dad and one of his co-workers to see the game.  our seats were great and the game was fun.  we bundled up in lots of layers to stay warm (i looked like the abominable snowman) and packed some homemade trail mix to munch on during the game (because you know that there is absolutely no stadium food that is "laurie friendly" as ryan so nicely says).  after going into overtime, our home team won!  it was a neat way to spend a wednesday night.

saturday at the flyers game

i've mentioned before that we're really not sports fans, but when we found out that ryan's dad got free tickets from work for a hockey game, we thought it would be a fun outing.  on saturday, we took a trip to philadelphia with ryan's dad to see the philadelphia flyers play the carolina hurricanes.

it's been a while since we have been to an ice hockey game.  we had great seats just eight rows from the ice, and the flyers won (5-1)!  it was a bit chilly (my toes were cold even though i was wearing two pairs of socks) but we had a really great time and it was fun to spend time with ryan's dad!

hope everyone had a great weekend!

a night out to watch some ice hockey

if you know us at all, you know that we are not big sports fans.  when it comes to sports, we usually don't know what is going on.  we typically do sit down to watch the super bowl each year, but only because we want to see the infamous commercials and the half-time show (and because it's an excuse to eat football-type food).

so, you might find it pretty hard to believe that we went to an ice hockey game on saturday night.  the university where we work was offering discounted tickets for saturday night's game, so we thought we would make a little date night out of it.

our seats were right behind one of the goals, so every time the players would head toward the goal, i flinched.  i can't believe how fast they move and how hard they throw each other around.  (two players snapped their hockey sticks in half!)  thank goodness there was a plexiglass partition between them and us!

the wilkes-barre scranton penguins played the adirondack phantoms, and the penguins won (2-1).  overall it was pretty neat, but i still think hockey is incredibly too violent for my liking.

hope everyone had a great weekend!
