another dance recital in the books!

the dance studio that i teach for had their dance recital this weekend at the theatre and it went great. the show was "british invasion" themed so we had a lot of fun british-themed props.  noah really got a kick out of the little british guard that was his size!

the whole house bows down and worships his royal highness, sir leko, who truly does believe the entire universe revolves around him, and who has the least amount of patience of any cat in the world.

national doughnut day

today is national doughnut day!  did you know that national doughnut day started back in 1938?  a young doctor was sent to a military base, and on his way there he stopped at a bakery and picked up 8 dozen doughnuts.  the doctor gave a free doughnut to each wounded soldier that he helped at the base.  a lieutenant general that was helped by the doctor decided to make a fund raiser out of it.  the lieutenant general gave every wounded solider and the needy a free doughnut.  the fund raiser was joined with the salvation army and became national doughnut day!

- baked mocha cake doughnuts with coffee cream cheese glaze
- baked strawberry cake doughnuts with strawberry glaze
- baked pumpkin doughnuts with brown butter and apple cider glaze topped with pecans

noah's play zone

we've been spending a lot of time at the theatre lately with so many shows.  that's means noah has had lots of opportunities to play in his favorite play zone: mom's office.  he sure has a variety of toys there to keep him occupied!

noah and i were playing in the basement recently and we were surprised to find a deer right outside our basement door munching on some greenery.  we admired him through the glass and were really shocked to see him so close by!

too many shows

oh my goodness, it has been one show after another at the theatre lately and this weekend alone we had 5 dance recitals!  exhausted isn't even the word!

this tiny little man runs the whole operation.  he loves to be on headset and be right in the middle of the action of his "big shows."

like father, like son

ryan loves hardware stores and let me tell you the apple did not fall far from the tree because noah absolutely looooooovvvveeessss hardware stores too.

we had to run into lowe's recently and he had to inspect every power tool for sale and then try out all of the riding lawn mowers (which he calls "lawn mow-mow").

he has good taste, because he always picks out the crazy expensive ones!
