ryan's birthday

we celebrated ryan's birthday on saturday with an hawaiian luau themed birthday party with our parents which was a lot of fun. ryan's actual birthday was on sunday, so we continued the birthday celebrations all weekend long.

we kicked off our morning on sunday with a pancakes and then packed up our tandem bike and headed out to a local trail for a ride.  we were so grateful that the weather cooperated with us and it didn't rain the whole time we were biking.  afterwards, we grabbed a bite to eat for lunch and ryan opened his birthday presents from me (with a great deal of help from leko who enjoyed helping ryan remove the curly ribbons from the presents)!

later in the evening, we met up with my parents for dinner.  after dinner we stopped at a cute little cafe for dessert, which we enjoyed outside on the cafe's pretty porch.  it was peaceful to sit on the covered porch and listen to the rain.  the desserts were really good too.  ryan and i shared a humongous chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake complete with a huge cookie on top, my dad had a cannoli tart, and my mom had a mini lemon pie.  on our way home, we even spotted a double rainbow!  we finished the evening off by curling up in bed and watching the peanuts movie.  all-in-all, i think the birthday boy had a pretty good birthday!

love, laurie

That is the best way to celebrate a birthday, two days. That was nice sitting on the porch and having dessert. Let's do that again.

That sounds like it was a great day complete with a rainbow!
