annual christmas tree lighting ceremony

yesterday afternoon we attended the annual christmas tree lighting ceremony at the university where we work.  the tradition dates back to 1971 and we love going every year.  this year marks the 13th year that we have attended the ceremony.

it's always so nice to see the community gather around the tree to sing christmas carols and illuminate the tree for the holiday season.  afterwards, everyone celebrates with cider, eggnog, and christmas cookies.  it's such a lovely tradition, and such a nice way to kick off the holiday season.

ps: here's a clip of the tree lighting that was on the local news yesterday.  if you look very closely, you can see us!  (here's a hint: we're standing on the second floor.)

love, laurie

I have always loved that room and the huge tree with lights. Are you in the video?
