biking the lehigh gorge bike trail

last september, we took a trip to jim thorpe for a little weekend getaway.  (you can see pictures from our weekend in jim thorpe here, here, and here.)  we really enjoyed spending time in jim thorpe exploring the town and riding the lehigh gorge scenic railway.  while we were there, we saw that there was a bike trail, and we have been wanting to try it out ever since.

so, on saturday we loaded our bikes on the car and took a trip down to jim thorpe to bike part of the lehigh gorge bike trail.  the trail is mostly gravel and runs between the railroad tracks and the river.  even though it was labor day weekend, the trail wasn't very crowded at all.  as we were biking, we rode over a bridge that crossed the lehigh river and we saw people in the river kayaking and white water rafting.

we biked 20 miles, and boy was that a good workout!  it was a fun trip down to jim thorpe and a great bike ride!

love, laurie

Beautiful view along the gorge. All those green trees would look stunning in the fall. Nice picture of the two of you.
